KIPP Adelante is a rigorous college preparatory middle school in San Diego,
California. Our school is founded on the highly successful
Knowledge Is Power
Program.

AN URGENT NEED
At KIPP Adelante Preparatory Academy,
we believe that education is the key to the future and that all students deserve
the chance to better their lives through a top-quality education.
Unfortunately, students in the Logan Heights and surrounding areas of whom 97%
qualify for free/reduced lunch, are not currently receiving the educational
opportunities that they deserve. Three years ago when we began:
 | Less than 16% of fifth-graders in
the local elementary school were performing at grade level in Reading and Math |
 | Zero percent of eighth graders in
the local middle school scored proficient of above on the Algebra 1 California
Standards Test |
 | Only 5 out of 100 students in the
area were expected to graduate from college |

OUR RESPONSE AND MISSION
KIPP Adelante Preparatory Academy offers
students and parents in southeastern San Diego a new alternative--a small,
college preparatory public middle school.
The mission of KIPP Adelante Preparatory Academy is to ensure that our students
develop the academic skills, intellectual habits, and character traits needed to
succeed in top quality high schools, college, and the competitive world beyond.

"Adelante," translated from Spanish, means to "get ahead, progress, advance"
and it is the principle by which everyone at KIPP Adelante lives each day. Every
student is capable of getting ahead and achieving at high levels.

If there is a
problem, we look for a solution.
If there is a
better way, we try to find it.
If a teammate
