Message From The Principal
Hello and Welcome to the KIPP Adelante Team and Family
KIPP Adelante Preparatory Academy is entering its ninth year of inspired service to the San Diego community, and I want to take this moment - right now - to thank all the families and friends who have trusted us and supported us throughout these years. We could not have made it without you.
One of KIPP’s many mantras is "Be the constant, not the variable", and throughout these nine years there has been one constant – KIPP Adelante is truly a team and family. We are a team because we set goals that sometimes seem out of reach. We are a team because we celebrate victories and endure defeats, and realize that both of them make us stronger. And we are a team because we realize we’ll always have a chance to do it even better the next time.
We are a family because we care deeply for one another and take every opportunity to build each other up and catch each other when we fall. We are a family because we accept that we are paving the road for those who follow us.
Each summer, as the KIPP staff goes door to door in the community seeking 5th graders to join its family in the fall, we are always buoyed by the warm greetings we receive on the streets from our current and former students. We take their outward show of love as a "thank you" for the high expectations we set for them academically and socially, and for the way we made them feel under our watch. We are deeply proud of that.
As with all teams and all families there is hard work to be done. At KIPP Adelante we work hard to instill in our students the concept of effort, achievement, and perseverance. We use every opportunity to teach our students that nothing of true value comes easily. Our extended day and year are concrete ways we demonstrate to our students that time is a valuable commodity and if used well pays high dividends.
This fall we celebrate a particular group of KIPP students who clearly heard our messages over the years. That group is the college-going Class of 2015 (our very first group of 5th graders)! We are proud to announce that some of these KIPP alumni can be found on the following campuses across the country: Fordham University, Tennessee State University, University of Florida, San Diego State University, UC Riverside, UC Irvine, UC San Diego, Hawaii Pacific University, Humboldt University, University of LaVerne, California State University – Los Angeles and Dominguez Hills, La Sierra University. In addition, many members of this class are pursuing certificates in technical fields or have already started their careers.
As always we invite you to visit our school. We are confident that you will feel the team and family spirit within our walls, that you will witness hard work, and that you will leave inspired.
