KIPP Through College
In keeping with our promise to prepare our students for college and the world beyond, we offer a comprehensive KIPP Through College Program. While enrolled at KIPP Adelante, students benefit from our High School Placement Program (HSP). HSP’s specific purpose is to assist students in choosing and attending the best college preparatory high school possible for them. Our Director of KIPP Through College, Ms. Nelson, works with all 7th and 8th grade students to ensure that they learn to evaluate the rigor of high school programs, prepare quality application materials, practice interview skills, and hone study skills necessary for placement and success in a college preparatory high school. Over 90% of KIPP Adelante Alumni are attending college preparatory high schools including the Bishops School, La Jolla Country Day, High Tech High, San Diego High’s International Studies Program, and The Preuss School. They are also standing some of the nation’s top boarding schools such as Hotchkiss in Conneticut, Taft in New York, and The Webb Schools in California.
Our commitment to our students does not end once they have been promoted from eighth grade and accepted into high school. Our goal is college matriculation and graduation; thus we support our alumni through our KIPP Through College (KTC) alumni services program. Alumni services include assistance with the college admissions process as well as academic and personal support throughout high school and college. Seventy-two percent of KIPP Adelante’s founding class (Class of 2015) will enter college this fall.
