High School Placement/KIPP to College
In keeping with the promise to prepare our students for college and the world beyond, we instituted the High School Placement Program in 2006, with our first class of eighth-grade students (more commonly referred to as the Class of 2015 - the year they will graduate from college). This program’s specific purpose is to assist students in choosing and attending the best college preparatory high school possible for them. Our Director of High School Placement, Ms. Coleman, works with all 7th and 8th grade students to ensure that they learn to evaluate the rigor of high school programs, prepare quality application materials, practice interview skills, and hone study skills necessary for placement and success in a college preparatory high school. In the Fall of 2007, KIPP Adelante’s first alumni group entered some of the region’s top public and private college preparatory high schools including the Bishop’s School, La Jolla Country Day, San Diego High’s International Studies Program, Mater Dei Catholic High School, The Preuss School, and High Tech High. Following in their footsteps, 94% of the Class of 2016 enrolled in college-preparatory high schools. including some of the nation’s top boarding schools such as Hotchkiss School in Connecticut, The Webb Schools in Claremont, and a community school in Minnesota.

Our commitment to our students does not end once they have been promoted from eighth grade and accepted into high school. Our goal is college matriculation and graduation; thus we strive to support our alumni and launched the KIPP to College alumni services program to assist our alumni with the college admissions process and provide them with academic and personal support throughout high school and college.
